LA JOLLA ELEMENTARY
PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION
VOLUNTEERING AT SCHOOL
The success of the PTO depends upon our parent volunteers that lead, organize and staff events and school activities
La Jolla Elementary has a variety of opportunities for parent involvement to fit just about any schedule and interest! Please review the opportunities listed below and circle any volunteer opportunities you may be interested in. Our VP Volunteers, Kaitlin Barr will enter your name and interests into our database and contact you as opportunities arise throughout the year.
IT'S EASY TO BECOME A PARENT VOLUNTEER
01
CONFIRM YOUR CONTACT DETAILS
Confirm that your family information is current on Classroom Contact Lists, the School Directory and the School Office also has your correct contact details.
02.
REGISTER FOR EBLAST
Make sure you have signed up for eBlast communications. We will usually send 'Signup Genius' invitations ahead of most events either through eBlast or directly to your email address on file.
03.
COMPLETE VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FORM
Complete the Registration As A Volunteer Form (Option under Volunteer Tab in the Menu). This form is sent to the PTO VP Volunteers, Kaitlin Barr. Your name will be added to our database.

05
COMPLETE TB CLEARANCE PAPERWORK
Complete the TB Clearance paperwork, which will be assessed by the school nurse or a medical parent volunteer (usually available on Signup day or Volunteer training events). TB Assessments are valid for 4 years.
06
SPEAK TO YOUR ROOM PARENTS
Speak to your Room Parent about available volunteer roles in your child's classroom. We have serveral roles available at the beginning of the school year some of which are shared roles - Library Liaison, Class Photographer, Gala Art Project Coordinator, Gala Basket Coordinator, Enrichment Class Helper, Class Garden Coordinator.
07
CLASS TEACHER WEEKLY UPDATES
Lookout for class activity volunteers and class trip chaperones. Teachers will usually send parents weekly 'what's happening' updates and there will be many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year!
08
SPEAK TO PTO CHAIRS
Finally, you can reach out to any of the PTO chairs to express interest in PTO volunteer roles, preparation for upcoming events and volunteer roles at the events. Everyone is happy to help you get involved in our school community.
